My November Reset: What I’m Focusing On This Month

Wow, how the year flies! It feels like I just got used to writing 2026, and now we are going into 2027. With the holidays and the new year approaching, I want to make the most out of these last two months without overwhelming myself too badly.

Finding My Routine Again

I am going to focus on building consistency this month with all different aspects of my life, balancing a home redo, work, the dogs, and my everyday schedule. Consistency is key, and I feel like by the time we hit Halloween, my routines start falling apart. The evening resets that I do every night start slipping, raking the leaves gets put off, walking the dogs gets put off… I need to get back into a daily routine.

I am also going to add something new to my routine: journaling. Throughout the month of October, I have been pulling a daily tarot card and thinking about it throughout my day and how it relates to my life. Well, I want to take that into journaling at least once a week. My plan is to pull a tarot card at the start of each week and journal about how that card’s meaning can impact my week ahead. Thinking about the week in manageable chunks usually helps me a lot with not getting overwhelmed, especially when I have so much to do.

Tackling My Home Redo

I have a lot of personal projects going on this month; well, basically it’s one major project. A home redo! I am redoing and painting my front hallway, living room, dining room, and upstairs hallway. There is a lot that needs to get done in a short amount of time. My goal is to be done by Thanksgiving so that Christmas can go up in the new space! That’s a soft goal; if I finish sooner, great! If I finish after, still okay. There is a lot I want to do, and I know it’s going to take some time.

This is going to be my first time painting with four dogs. The younger two have never seen me paint before, and when I put the paint swatches on the walls, they were a little bit too interested in helping me paint… I’m going to have to tire out my little helpers so they aren’t quite as helpful. I will be taking you along during my project so you can see all the changes and get some inspiration. I’m doing this on as tight a budget as I can!

Working Toward a New Career

I am also looking for a new job; that is my end-of-the-year goal. I want to be in a new position by Christmas or have a start date. Because I already have a job, I don’t have to rush to find a new one. I think that is helping my mindset as well. Getting a new job is the goal, but I have the freedom to not apply for things I am uninterested in.

Making More Time for Myself

I am also working on making time for the things that I enjoy. Making more time for reading, playing a video game or two, spending time with the dogs, or just going out and doing something for me. It’s hard not to feel like every moment needs to be productive.

This month I want to try to do a few things solo. I feel like going out solo is something that I am so nervous to do; I always do things with others. I am going to get out of my comfort zone a bit and go do a few things with me, myself, and I.

Every year, it feels like the moment Halloween is over, the race to finish the year begins. Anything you didn’t get done in 2026 is now rushed because you are trying to get it done and finished. I want these last two months to feel intentional for me and not like I am trying to run a sprint into the new year.

Are you working toward any goals before the end of the year, or are you taking this season to slow down?
